Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has slammed his defenders after they drew 1-1 with Arsenal on Saturday. Although Liverpool extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a well-earned point at the Emirates, the German expected a win.
James Milner put Liverpool ahead before Alexandre Lacazette netted the equaliser with 10 minutes to go.
Klopp hit out at his defenders, claiming they did a poor job defending in the first half.
“We scored a goal which was not offside and Virgil [van Dijk] had two chances he would normally score with his eyes closed,” Express Sports quoted the German as saying.
“I am not happy with how we defended in the first half, that is not what I want. We were outstanding on the counter attack.
“It’s a point, we take that, and a point at Arsenal is always a good result but we could have won. We had clear chances, they had chances as well.”
Speaking on Liverpool’s disallowed goal, he added, “There is only one person who can answer the question and that’s the linesman. That’s football. If he thought the first situation was offside then I think he was wrong.
“But it’s not going to change and we made more mistakes than the referee. It would have been cool if this goal could count.”
