Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown has told Unai Emery to build his attacking force around the former Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette.
Lacazette was signed last summer for a then club-record £52million but his place in the team has been compromised by the subsequent arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Emery had struggled to pair the two forwards in his starting line-up until Sunday’s win over Cardiff, during which both players opened their goal scoring accounts for the new Premier League season.
The France international has started the three previous games on the bench but he has proved that he should be included in the starting XI and Keown has been impressed with his attitude as much as his performances on the pitch.
“I think special mention has to go to Alexandre Lacazette,” he told the Daily Mail.
“How patient has that man been? His attitude has been impeccable.
“He failed to make the French squad for the World Cup then watched from afar as they went on to lift the trophy in Russia.
“Emery used him as a substitute in his first three Premier League matches, then he finally gets to start against Cardiff. So what he do? He goes and scores the winner.
“Lacazette now has to play and be the person they build around. Full credit to him.” Keown said.
