EPL: Jamie Carragher compares Hazard to Pele, Maradona, Thierry Henry

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has compared Chelsea star, Eden Hazard to Brazil legend, Pele, Argentina legend, Diego Maradona, and Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry after his stunning display against Jurgen Klopp’s men on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup third round clash.

Hazard secured a 2-1 win for Maurizio Sarri’s men against the Reds with one of the best goals of his career, as Carragher lavished praise on the Belgium international, adding that the 27-year-old was a ‘great player’ like Pele, Maradona and Henry.

“All the greatest players have the power,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

”Think of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Gianfranco Zola and you can even go back to Diego Maradona and Pele. They can’t be bullied in football. Even though they are great players, you think ‘how do you stop them?’

“When the ball goes wide it’s like the best player in the schoolyard saying ‘give me the ball’. Hazard wasn’t in a great position to receive it, but then he scored the goal.

“I said on commentary that Hazard is the best player in the Premier League. It’s not because he scored that goal, I believe it. I think he should have been named the best player of the World Cup also.

“He is an absolute superstar. The last domestic cup game he played was the FA Cup final. He won that game by winning the penalty and scoring it.

“He won this game as well.”

Hazard will be out to beat Liverpool again on Saturday in the Premier League when Chelsea clash with the Anfield club at Stamford Bridge.
