EPL: How Giroud rated Higuain’s Chelsea debut

Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud has stated that fellow teammate, Gonzalo Higuain will succeed in England after the Argentine international made his debut for the Blues against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup encounter on Sunday.

Goals from Willian (2) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (1) ensured Maurizio Sarri’s men threw Sheffield Wednesday out of the competition.

Higuain joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus last week Wednesday but Giroud believes the 31-year-old will score goals for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Asked about Higuain’s debut, Giroud was quoted by Metro UK as saying: “Yeah, it’s nice. It is a good start for him.

“He needs to take the rhythm, you know, because it is totally different to Serie A. But, yeah, for sure he will score goals for us.”

Giroud added: “If the club decides to get another striker, like Higuain, it will certainly darken my future at Chelsea. “I have never said no to a return to France. Lyon and Marseille are two great clubs. My priority is to stay in the Premier League though.”

Chelsea will tackle Bournemouth on Wednesday in the Premier League fixture.
