Former Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick, has reacted to Chris Smalling’s goal in the club’s 2-1 victory against Watford in Saturday’s Premier League encounter at the Vicarage Road Stadium.
Smalling’s first goal of the season put Jose Mourinho’s men 2-0 up after striker, Romelu Lukaku’s opener, before Andre Gray pulled one back for the hosts in the second half.
Carrick, who retired from United at the end of last season, described Smalling’s goal as ‘lovely’ and ‘great’ strike.
“Yeah, it was a great goal from Chris. It’s something we’ve been trying to do, really – score more goals from set plays and create more chances and try and come up with things to do that,” Carrick told MUTV.
“So it was nice to see one go in from him today. Normally it’s a header or a right foot, but it was a lovely volley on the left.”
