Chelsea player, Eden Hazard has surpassed former Blues legend, Gianfranco Zola’s record after scoring their third goal against Brighton in the Premier league.
The Belgian international enjoyed an excellent afternoon as Chelsea beat Brighton 4-0. He scored twice, notching in the 3rd and 77th minutes as he put in a man-of-the-match display.
Hazard on Saturday confirmed his place among Chelsea’s greatest players as he scored his 102 goals for the Blues to surpass Zola 101 goals.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hazard said: “We started the game very well. The combination between Michy, Willian and me and the midfield was brilliant – we need more like this week after week.
“But then after the first-half we had a problem. Willy made some saves today. When you score early then you think the game is really over, but it is not. At the end of the game we won by 4-0, that’s good.”
“It’s my job to score. ‘I know it’s not happened lately but every game I try to score, create goals and assists. ‘That’s what strikers try to do every game,” he said.
Hazard’s 102 goals for the Premier league champions puts him on third for Chelsea in the Premier League behind only Didier Drogba (159) and Frank Lampard (237).
