Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed that rival Premier League teams, hijacked his moves for Alexis Sanchez and Jorginho.
Alexis was heavily linked with City in January after failing to join last summer but eventually signed for their neighbours, Manchester United.
This summer, Jorginho was widely expected to join Guardiola’s team but completed a switch to Chelsea.
When asked at a press conference ahead of the Community Shield on Sunday if Chelsea ‘stole’ Jorginho from City, the Spaniard replied: “So… yes, we were close. But in the end, Jorginho decided [to join Chelsea].
“We thought it [Jorginho] was done, but at the last turn, he decided to go to Chelsea. Similar to Alexis, he decided to go to United.”
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss also hinted that he would only sign a player if he is “special”.
According to Guardiola, if City sign one more, it will be because he’s a “special player”, not an “extra player”.
