Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said his players will decide on their new captain.
The armband is up for grabs, following Vincent Kompany’s exit from the club after 11 years.
Kompany has now taken up a player-coach role at Anderlecht, the club where he started his career.
“We will choose the team captain. We will wait until everyone is back and they will choose their captain,” Guardiola said on Wednesday, after a 4-1 win over West Ham in a friendly in the Chinese city of Nanjing.
David Silva, who has confirmed he will leave the Etihad next year, wore the skipper’s armband for the match.
