Former Liverpool star, Graeme Souness has revealed two players Chelsea must sign this summer.
According to him, the Blues need to bring in a striker and an attacking midfielder.
Souness said that Maurizio Sarri’s side, who have been hit with a transfer ban by FIFA, are not far away from being title challengers again.
Chelsea have struggled away from home against better sides this season but managed to pick up a useful point in a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.
The point strengthened their position in the fourth place.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Souness said, “Chelsea not doing well against the big teams; that’s not a coincidence, they just haven’t got the quality against the big teams.
“I think they’re a near miss. They’re lacking a goalscorer up front. I’ve been a fan of Higuain but I don’t think this football is for him going forward.
“Our football is very demanding and you need to be powerful, strong, quick and athletic and it’s the hardest place to play up front.
“I think they’ll have to address that. Obviously the transfer ban is something – how they’ll address it we’ll have to wait and see.
“I think in midfield, if they had a goalscoring midfielder – someone who got into the box more often – it would be a very different team. But there’s not a lot wrong with that Chelsea team.”
