Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has said Liverpool must ensure they lead Manchester City by at least, three points going into the final five games of the season, if they want to beat them to the title.
The Reds currently sit three points ahead of their nearest title rivals, following their 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
However, they suffered a dip recently, failing to move seven points clear of City at the top and allowed Pep Guardiola’s men to close the gap from five to three.
And because of City’s know-how in winning titles, Neville believes Liverpool have to remain ahead of them going into the final five fixtures.
“I said a few months ago that if Liverpool are to win the title then they need to have a lead going into the final few games of the season.
“If they are three or four points ahead with three to five games left then they have a really good chance.
“However, if they are behind City or even level then I think it will be City’s title, as they have the experience of holding their nerve,” Neville told Sky Sports.
