EPL: Emery gives update on Koscielny’s injury

Arsenal Manager, Unai Emery has said that defender, Laurent Koscielny is close to returning to the club’s starting XI and is confident he will be in action soon after the international break.

Koscielny has been sidelined since May after he ruptured his Achilles tendon during Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid last season.

The 33-year-old returned to training at the end of August but is yet to feature for the Gunners this season.

Arsenal will face Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday evening, before hosting Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday ahead of the international break.

“He feels better in each training,” Metro UK quoted Emery as saying.

“He is close to being with us for competitive games.

“We are happy with him. ‘He is with us every day and we are going to think after the international break how we continue working and playing games.”
