Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has provided latest update on playmaker, Mesut Ozil’s injury ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
Ozil did not feature in Gunners’ 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at the Emirates due to a back spasm he sustained few days ago.
Emery has, however, said that he is unsure whether the 30-year-old will be fit for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Jose Mourinho’s men.
Providing update on Ozil’s injury, Metro UK quoted Emery as saying on Monday: “I said yesterday he’s had backache since last Tuesday.
“At the moment, I don’t know if he can play in Manchester. Today he was working alone, I don’t know if he’s okay for Wednesday.”
He added: “It’s a new match, a new challenge, a big challenge. It’s away and we need to continue improving our mentality away.
“We know we need to change to get more competitive away. “I think the team is doing that, but it’s a new challenge because we’re going to play against Manchester United away, and the challenge is bigger than other matches.
“For us, it’s a very exciting match. The preparation for this match is also a big motivation for us.
“It gives me a big motivation for Wednesday. If we are stronger now, we need to [show that] on Wednesday.”
Arsenal are currently occupying the fourth position on the Premier League log with 30 points from 14 games.
