Chelsea defender, David Luiz has explained why his side played 0-0 draw with Everton on Sunday in the Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were held at home by the visitors despite the inclusion of forward, Eden Hazard in Chelsea’s lineup for the first time in three weeks after his recovery from a back injury.
Luiz said Maurizio Sarri’s side did not defeat Everton because the marking from the visitors was amazing, adding that they blocked the space in the midfield.
“We controlled the game,” Luiz told Chelsea’s official website. “The marking from Everton was amazing. They blocked the space in the middle so we didn’t have a lot of combinations in the middle and from the sides, and in the end they were a bit lucky because we tried to score but didn’t score.
“We did everything to try to win. Sometimes it’s possible, sometimes it’s not, and we’re still there, trying to be at the top of the table so we’re going to fight until the end.
Luiz added: “I think both teams have more players to play football than to play physical, with power and strength.”
“Most of the teams now come here with two lines and trying to lock us up so it’s up to us to find the way to score.”
Chelsea will now take on Tottenham in their next Premier League fixture scheduled for November 24.
