EPL: Courtois speaks on Conte’s sack, Sarri’s appointment as Chelsea manager

Chelsea No.1 goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has spoken on the sack of Antonio Conte as Chelsea’s manager.

The Belgian first choice also revealed the Chelsea players were told that the Italian would be sacked this summer.

Courtois said he did not think it would be easy for a new manager to come in and shape the team in a few weeks.

Courtois said this after he and other Chelsea players in Belgium camp at the World Cup were told of managerial changes yesterday.

“It’s hard to talk about it because I don’t know exactly what happened,” Courtois told reporters.

“But the decision that was made a few days ago, I think as a group we expected that to happen a long time ago because we heard what the board said to us after the season ended and then it takes until now.

“I don’t think it’s easy for a new manager to come in and shape us in a few weeks.

“I think fans need to understand we will need some time to adapt to the new manager and a different style”.

Italian Conte oversaw two successful years at Chelsea where they won the Premier League and FA Cup.
