EPL: Cooks names one Man United player that ‘destroyed’ Chelsea in 4-0 win

Tottenham legend, Garth Cooks, has named one Manchester United player that ‘destroyed’ Chelsea in their Premier League opener on Sunday.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men defeated Chelsea 4-0 in Frank Lampard’s Premier League managerial debut.

Crooks praised French midfielder, Paul Pogba for the victory.

He said that the unsettled midfielder’s string-pulling “destroyed” the Blues.

Pogba has spent the summer attempting to leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid and could still depart with the La Liga window open until September 2.

But any unrest was put to the side by Pogba, who assisted Marcus Rashford’s second goal and Daniel James’ maiden United strike.

The midfielder made 63 passes, with only Victor Lindelof making more for the Red Devils.

“It has not been an easy summer for Paul Pogba,” Crooks told the BBC.

“The France international has been the subject of much speculation about where he might start the season and whether he is happy at Manchester United.

“Well, if his performance against Chelsea is anything to go by I can’t understand what all the fuss is about.

“After a sluggish start, the United playmaker absolutely destroyed any aspirations Frank Lampard may have had during this fixture with two scintillating passes. The Chelsea manager now has a few days to contemplate whether he invested too much faith in youth and not enough in experience at Old Trafford.”

“I’m always good when I play football,” Pogba said. “I do what I love, it’s my job.

“I will give my best every time I’m on the pitch.

“Now, we know that there were words. The future will tell.

“One always remains on this point of questioning. I am in Manchester.

“I’m having fun with my teammates, I always want to win the matches.

“I will always give myself thoroughly when I am on the ground.”
