Former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, is delaying making a decision on his next club despite interest from Roma and Inter.
He has made the Manchester United job his number once choice, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Conte has been out of work for a year, after he was sacked at Stamford Bridge.
The 49-year-old is still locked in a legal battle with the Blues over his compensation.
Conte is however ready to return to management, with top clubs ready to lure him back to Italy.
However, the Italian considers the United job to be the most “striking” option available to him.
United only just handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a permanent contract, but a run of seven defeats in 10 games has dealt a massive blow to United’s top-four hopes and raised question marks over the manager’s pedigree and suitability.
There is a possibility that Solskjaer’s reign could come to a premature end, particularly if their poor form continues into next season.
