Ex-Manchester United captain Gary Neville has accused Chelsea stars of “walking” and playing like “mannequins” in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Neville, a SkySports pundit, was delivering commentary during the game at the Etihad when he said this.
He was critical of Antonio Conte’s approach during the first half when City had 72% possession and the visitors failed to record a shot on target.
Chelsea conceded within a minute of the second half when Bernardo Silva converted David Silva’s cross.
Neville who had accused Arsenal of being ‘spineless’ during last Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat to the same City added that Chelsea were equally ’embarrassing’ at the Etihad
“I said it about Arsenal last week but look at them Chelsea players walking now – it’s an embarrassment,” said Neville. “They’re just watching them play – like mannequins.”
The former England player continued to criticise Conte’s side throughout the second half and restarted after a passage of play in which Chelsea sat off City despite being 1-0 down.
“This is woeful from Chelsea, it really is. It’s just unacceptable,” said Neville.
