Former Arsenal star, Paul Merson has told Chelsea not to replace manager, Maurizio Sarri with the club’s legend, Frank Lampard.
Sarri, who joined Chelsea last summer, has been under intense pressure at Stamford Bridge due to the club’s recent poor performances.
But Merson believes it is too early for Chelsea to
sack Sarri and appoint Lampard as new manager.
Asked whether Lampard could manage his former club, Merson told Sky Sports: “Not yet. It’s a big job.
“They’re not Norwich, they’re not 10 points clear at the top. It’s early.
“I think he’s doing great, don’t get me wrong. But there’s a long way to go.
“You’re talking one of the top four, five clubs in England. One of the top 20 in the world of football. It’s a bit early for me.”
Chelsea will tackle Manchester United on Monday night in the FA Cup fixture.
