EPL: Chelsea board meets, takes decision on Conte

Chelsea’s board has met and discussed the future of manager, Antonio Conte.

The club’s board met immediately after the Blues’ 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday.

The Premier League champions continued their recent show of poor form as they succumbed to a 1-1 draw against David Moyes’ side on Sunday and the result left them 10 points adrift of Tottenham in fourth place.

Before now, Chelsea have lost to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and exited the Champions League at the last-16 stage against Barcelona.

A source at Stamford Bridge told Daily Mail UK that Chelsea’s board wants Conte to quit the club this summer rather than forcing them to fire him.

The Italian agreed a new deal last summer increasing his pay, though the length of the deal, which has one more year to run, was not disclosed.

If Chelsea are to fire him, they would have to pay off the remainder of his £9million a year deal.
