Chelsea’s board is unhappy with manager, Maurizio Sarri, over his treatment of Callum Hudson-Odoi and his decision to publicly criticise his players on several occasions this season.
Sarri has come under pressure, following a 4-0 humiliation at Bournemouth on Wednesday, which is the Blues’ heaviest league defeat in 23 years.
Chelsea’s form has dipped in recent weeks and the club are in danger of missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League.
According to The UK Times, the Italian will be given time to turn things around, but there is growing unease at some of the 60-year-old’s methods both on and off the pitch.
Sarri’s decision to sparingly utilise Callum Hudson-Odoi in the first half of the season has made Chelsea’s hierarchy unhappy.
The 18-year-old was one of the team’s best players during their pre-season campaign but then went on to make only five first-team appearances until the end of December.
Hudson-Odoi was the subject of serious interest from Bayern Munich in the January window and he reportedly handed in a transfer request, to try and force the move.
The board also feel Sarri should not criticize players publicly after bad results.
After the defeat to Bournemouth, Sarri went as far as to claim that his players had not even learnt the basics of his style of play.
“We are struggling, above all mentally. We had assumed that we learned a certain style of football, but the truth is we never did learn it and are paying the consequences,” he said.
