Arsenal defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos is likely to miss the Gunners’ clash with Leicester City next Monday for sustaining an ankle injury on international duty, according to Metro UK.
The 30-year-old was substituted during Greece’s 2-0 defeat to Finland on Monday and is believed to have sprained his ankle.
The defender will undergo scans to determine the seriousness of the injury but it appears unlikely that he will return to fitness in time to face the Foxes at the Emirates.
Sokratis has been at the heart of new manager, Unai Emery’s defence since he took over the position in the summer and has featured in the side’s nine-match winning run.
The defender’s injury leaves just Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi as Emery’s only fully fit defenders.
The Gunners will enter a busy period after the international break and play five matches in 13 days against the likes of Leicester, Sporting Lisbon and Liverpool.
