Arsenal have suffered fresh injury worries ahead of their trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League after midfielder, Lucas Torreira picked up a knock while playing for his country, Uruguay.
Torreira started for Uruguay in their international friendly fixture against Mexico over the weekend but was substituted at half-time and sat on the bench with an ice pack on his left calf during the second half of the encounter as Uruguay went on to win 4-1.
According to Evening Standard, Torreira will now fly back to North London to be further assessed by Arsenal’s medical team but the midfielder is already considered a major doubt for their EPL clash against Rafael Benitez’s men at the St. James’ Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The untimely injury comes as a blow as Torreira was hoping to make his full debut this weekend having been used as a substitute since joining the Emirates club from Sampdoria in the summer.
DAILY POST recalls that Arsenal defender, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will miss six to eight weeks over fracture sustained to his left fibula.
