Arsenal manager, Unai Emery says he is impressed with Danny Welbeck’s performance in the 3-1 victory over Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round, adding that he might make his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss saw the Gunners extend their winning streak in all competitions to six matches, and Welbeck played a vital role in booking Arsenal’s spot in the fourth round of the competition.
The England international scored twice before a late goal from Alexandre Lacazette wrapped up the victory.
Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have started to improve under the Spanish coach in the Premier League.
However, Emery insists the 27-year-old has proved himself enough to dislodge them ahead of this weekend’s clash with Watford.
“I am very happy individually with the player,” Metro UK quoted Emery as saying after the game.
“He gave us his quality and also his commitment every day. Danny Welbeck is working with this commitment and when he is playing also with a performance like today, and I think he’s helping the team and we want this.
“Also, it gives more chances for us to find (him) the first XI for the next match with performances like today. I am very happy with Danny Welbeck.”
