Arsenal have confirmed the jersey number of forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who completed his move to the North London club on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners confirmed that the Gabonese international will wear Thierry Henry’s legendary No.14 squad number.
The 28-year-old was signed for a club-record £56million after two weeks of intense negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
An opportunity to wear the famous No.14 was presented to Aubameyang following Theo Walcott‘s move to Everton.
Aubameyang told Arsenal.com: “I think the club have such a big history and have great players like Thierry Henry who is an example for all strikers.
“He was fast and scored a lot of goals he was really an example. Maybe [I am like him] but I have to work a lot to be like him and I will do.
“I am a fast player and score goals too, like Henry. I have to work a lot to get there.I hope that we come back to the top as soon as possible.”
Arsenal’s Premier League No.14s include: Martin Keown (1993-1999) Thierry Henry (1999-2007) Theo Walcott (2008-2018) and now Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2018-).
