Manchester United captain, Antonio Valencia, has apologised for liking an Instagram post that suggested manager Jose Mourinho should be sacked.
Valencia appeared to support a post which said “it’s time for Mourinho to go”, following the 0-0 Champions League draw with Valencia on Tuesday night.
However, on Wednesday morning the 33-year-old insisted he is still behind the Portuguese coach.
“Yesterday, I liked a post on Instagram without reading the text that accompanied the picture.
“These are not my views and I apologise for this.
“I am fully supportive of the manager and my teammates. We are all giving our everything to improve the results,” Valencia said, according to ESPN.
Valencia is among the players Mourinho has criticised this season, saying during the summer a calf injury suffered by the Ecuadorian was because he had “too many holidays” in the summer.
