EPL: Anthony Martial sends message to Wenger after Arsenal 2-1 loss at Old Trafford

Anthony Martial has paid tribute to Arsene Wenger after Manchester United’s victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Belgian forward, Marouane Fellaini scored late winner in injury time after Henrikh Mkhitaryan had cancelled out Paul Pogba’s earlier strike.

Wenger has announced he would be stepping down at the end of the season and the defeat against United was his last game in charge of Arsenal at Old Trafford.

And Martial used the opportunity to praise the departing Arsenal boss with a post on Twitter captioned, “Tribute to a legend.”

The Arsenal boss had taken a keen interest in Martial’s career and followed the 22-year-old’s progression at Lyon and Monaco.

Martial was wanted by Wenger before he joined Manchester United in 2015.

Wenger also made an attempt to sign Martial in January as part of Alexis Sanchez’s swap deal, but reports claim that the Gunners’ boss was overruled by chief executive Ivan Gazidis and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.
