EPL: Allan Shearer slams Pogba, Sanchez ahead of Man United’s clash with Tottenham

Newcastle United legend, Allan Shearer, has slammed Manchester United star, Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba for putting up poor performances for the club.

Shearer said the players have no excuses on why they have not shown their class for the Old Trafford ‘landlords.’

The club is currently under pressure after just two games into the new season.

United suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat to Brighton last weekend and face Tottenham on Monday evening.

Franch star, Paul Pogba admitted his ‘attitude’ was not right at full-time at Brighton as he struggled to have an impact in the game, despite scoring his second goal in two games.

The former Juventus midfielder showed his quality in the summer as he led France to a second World Cup title but United are yet to see the same level from him on a regular basis at Old Trafford.

“We saw what he could do in Russia, we saw the player that Manchester United hoped would be turning it on at Old Trafford week-in, week-out,” Shearer told The Sun.

“But Pogba has rarely hit those levels for United since the day he signed.

“Do not throw at me this nonsense about not being played in his favourite position or not liking the tactics.

“Get on with it and take a leaf out of Wayne Rooney’s book.

“A top striker for club and country yet he was routinely moved all over the park and always did a job.

“Pogba played a half-decent game against Leicester and then couldn’t summon up the ‘right attitude’ to follow that up eight days later at Brighton.

“I don’t care if you like the manager or not, you are a professional footballer, being paid an incredible amount of money. Where is the professional pride?

“Pogba needs to start performing . . . and tell his agent to shut up!”

For Alexis Sanchez who missed the defeat to the Seagulls through injury, and is expected to return to United starting XI when they host Tottenham this evening, Shearer added, “Alexis Sanchez’s performances last season were defended by Jose Mourinho because the Chilean only joined in January from Arsenal,” Shearer added.

“But I don’t buy that, either. He is simply not performing, doesn’t look focused and he’s a shadow of the player we saw at Arsenal.

“United smashed their wage structure to sign him and it seems to have had a negative impact on the player.”

Sanchez arrived at Old Trafford in January from Arsenal but he yet to live up to expectations.
