Alexis Sanchez has denied he was involved in a bet with teammate Marco Rojo, over the future of former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday, following a turbulent start to the season, which culminated in last Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield.
Sanchez has missed the last six games with a hamstring injury and has been recouperating in Chile, ahead of his likely comeback at the start of next month.
The former Arsenal forward was reported to have bet £20,000 with Rojo, that Mourinho would not see out the season but the 30-year-old, who celebrated his birthday earlier this week, has angrily denied those accusations.
Sanchez tweeted: “This is FALSE!!! José gave me the chance to play for the best team in the world and I only have gratitude for him.
“We are a truly United team. We are MANCHESTER UNITED. Respect. I can’t wait to help the team !. Good luck tomorrow family!”
