Arsenal legend, Alan Smith has blamed keeper Bernd Leno for the club’s 3-2 defeat at Southampton on Sunday.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored twice for Arsenal but they were denied after two headers from Danny Ings and one late goal from Charlie Austin.
Austin headed home from Shane Long’s cross with five minutes left but goalkeeper Leno got his positioning all wrong.
The German keeper charged out, then back into his box before trying to dive to get finger-tips on Long’s cross.
Smith said the goal was Leno’s fault and blamed him for the loss.
“He will still be thinking about this,” Smith said on Sky Sports.
“He went out and does he get back into the kind of position he wants to? It’s two poor decisions really from the keeper.”
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, added, “You’ve got to have a close look at the goalkeeper here.
“He makes his mind up to go for it but having been at the near post, it’s totally the wrong decision for the goalkeeper to make – to go from the near post to the far post.
“He should have backed on to his line here. It’s not a great ball, that’s what’s tempted him.”
