EPL: Alan Shearer reveals who caused Man United’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool

Premier League legend, Alan Shearer has blamed Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku following the Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat by Liverpool in the Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Goals from Sadio Mane (1), Xherdan Shaqiri (2) gave Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points against United.

However, Jesse Lingard did score for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Shearere blamed Lukaku for his poor performances against the hosts.

According to him, Lukaku was ‘bullied’ by the Reds defender, Virgil van Dijk throughout the match.

“His Lukaku’s performance was nowhere near good enough,” Shearer told BBC’s Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evening.

“In the first five minutes, Van Dijk gets a huge cheer from the Anfield crowd because he takes him [Lukaku] out of the game.

“He bosses the situation and Lukaku didn’t want to go near him all afternoon.

“Van Dijk bullied him, Dejan Lovren bullied him. “Admittedly, the service he got was average at best. But he shouldn’t get pushed off the ball like that with the size of him.

“I think he’s starting to hide now, because he doesn’t want to be involved because he’s not getting what he wants out of the game. “He shouldn’t be bullied in the way he was being bullied today.”

Man United will now take on Cardiff City in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday.
