EPL: Alan Shearer names 2 Man United players that’ll make Mourinho continue to struggle

Premier League legend, Alan Shearer has said that Manchester United will continue to struggle as long as manager Jose Mourinho continues fielding Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.

Shearer said Mourinho will still struggle to turn things around and save his job despite beating Newcastle United 3-2 at the weekend.

The former Newcastle star said he cannot see Mourinho succeeding at Manchester United.

He said it was only a matter of time before Mourinho was sacked.

“I still don’t see Jose Mourinho being able to just turn it around,” Shearer told The Sun.

“Not while he still has the same defenders to choose from – the defenders he keeps criticising and chopping and changing.

“We should not forget these are the same defenders who had the second best defensive record in the Premier League last season, conceding just one more goal than Manchester City.

“Yet they are completely different players this season because they are constantly hearing their manager telling them they are not good enough.

“He has killed their confidence – and Saturday was just another example of that.

“Mourinho took Eric Bailly off after just 19 minutes and moved a midfielder, Scott McTominay, back to centre-half.

“At the same time, he left another centre-half Victor Lindelof, who he bought for £31million, on the bench. ‘Then at half-time, he takes off McTominay, who I felt sorry for, to bring on another midfielder.

“And he moves two more midfielders, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, into deeper positions. What sort of message is that sending to Bailly and Lindelof?.

“Mourinho says there is a “manhunt” against him. But Manchester United are the biggest club in the world.

“So when they don’t win for four games, and when they put in a performance like they did at West Ham last week, it becomes a crisis.

“The situation is no different to what is happening at Real Madrid, with their manager Julen Lopetegui under pressure after four games without a win.

“It is not a manhunt or an over-reaction, it is just because of who and what that football club is.

“What is telling is the Manchester United hierarchy have still not come out and officially said reports about Mourinho’s future being in jeopardy are rubbish and we’re going to stick by him whatever.

“It is just another example of how embarrassing things have been at the club since the start of the season.”
