Current champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NFPL), Enyimba and Federation Cup holders, Akwa United, will face each other in the annual Charity Shield game.
The match, which is always the curtain raiser for the football season, will be played at the National Stadium in Abuja on Wednesday.
Akwa United go into the game in fine form, after they beat Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Nasarawa United in two rounds of the Super Four organised by the League Management Company (LMC).
They also beat Vita Club Mokanda of Congo 1-0 in Pointe Noir in their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg match. Enyimba on their part, were defeated by SC Vipers in Uganda as they kicked off their CAF Champions League campaign.
The new NPFL season kicks off this weekend.
