Enyimba’s Ibenegbu not afraid of Zamalek

Enyimba midfielder, Bartholomew Ibenegbu, has insisted that they are not afraid of Zamalek.

The current Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, have been grouped with the Egyptian powerhouse, Algeria’s ES Setif and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, in Group B of this year’s CAF Champions League.

“We have been expecting this kind of draw because the eight teams left in this competition are very tough, so we know we won’t be facing easy teams,” Ibenegbu told Goal.

“Even at this, we are not moved. All we need to do is prepare very hard and by God’s grace, we will qualify for the semi-final stage.

“All the teams are threats to us because there are no longer smaller sides in Africa. We are going to prepare very well for every club we are going to face and we will not underrate anyone.

“The coaches will draw up a plan on how well to handle Zamalek and for my teammates, we believe in ourselves and we know what we are capable of doing.”

Enyimba are on a quest to win their third CAF Champions League title, but Ibenegbu says they will take it one game at a time.

“When we started this competition we set a group stage target for ourselves,” he continued.

“And having achieved this, we will take each game as they come and hopefully qualify for the next round of the competition and from then, we can hope to win the title.”
