Enyimba are now top of the Nigeria Premier League, after a 2-0 home win over Heartland in what is termed the ‘Oriental Derby’.
Chinonso Okonkwo headed Enyimba in front in the 40th minute, before Christian Obizor made it two, 10 minutes after the break.
Heartland’s top scorer Bright Ejike missed from the spot and had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half.
The Aba side now have 22 points from 12 games.
However, they might still be toppled when Giwa takes on Sunshine Stars on Thursday.
