Vincent Enyeama’s international future is up in the air, after it emerged that the goalkeeper tore a query issued to him by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), over his remarks on their safety in Kaduna.
The Super Eagles took on Chad in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last Saturday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
According to reports, Enyeama ripped the query right before NFF officials and the matter is expected to be transferred to the NFF disciplinary committee.
“Top NFF officials told me he tore the query he was issued. What Vincent did is unacceptable and he cannot go unpunished for this,” former Nigeria international Garba Lawal said.
Newly elected Kaduna Governor Nasir-El Rufai, is also understood not to be pleased with Enyeama’s comments and had to be persuaded to attend the game by NFF officials.
Enyeama has since reportedly written an apology letter, but officials are adamant that the case will be looked into and the keeper now faces likely suspension.
The Lille stopper made his 101st appearance in the match and is now the most capped Nigerian player ever.
