Head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed his disappointment, over what he termed assassination of his character by Vincent Enyeama.
Oliseh and Enyeama had a fall-out at a team meeting, during which it was announced that Ahmed Musa is now the new captain of Nigeria.
The Lille goalkeeper on Thursday, announced he was quitting the national team and claimed he would not take insults over his dead mother.
Oliseh has now reacted to the incident.
“There is a level to how far you can go in character assassination by Enyeama. This is unheard of,” he said.
The former Juventus and Dortmund midfielder, also revealed how he was eager to have Enyeama on board, prompting him to drive to France to have lunch with him.
“I took him to lunch and shared my coaching philosophy with him,” narrated Oliseh.
“He was talking about retirement from the national team, which I didn’t like.
“In 2008, he was dropped (by Berti Vogts) to second or third goalkeeper because of this and under Sammy (Siasia), he also had problems.”
