Enyeama begins new Ligue 1 season with defeat to PSG

Defending Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, began their title defence with a narrow 1-0 win over Lille at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday.

The Parisians were without injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic and new man Angel Di Maria, who both watched from the stands.

PSG were reduced to 10 men in the 28th minute, after Adrien Rabiot was shown a red card for a senseless foul, but the visitors battled on to claim their first three points of the new season.

Lille failed to make their numerical advantage count and conceded the only goal in the 57th minute of play. Blaise Matuidi and Edinson Cavani combined nicely to set up Lucas Moura, who rounded off Vincent Enyeama and scored.

This is the first since 2010 that PSG have begun the league campaign with victory.

Herve Renard’s tough start continues next week, when Lille face Monaco on Friday, while PSG will welcome Ajaccio.
