Enugu State traders with certificates will now get board appointments.
The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who made the promise, said it was a means of giving the traders a sense of belonging in the affairs of the State.
Ugwuanyi, who was impressed by the large turnout of traders at the Ogbete Main Market Enugu, who virtually shut down their stores to welcome the PDP campaign train to the market, noted that his decision to accommodate educated traders in his administration was borne out of his desire to identify with the traders and encourage them to contribute their quota to the development of the State.
He also disclosed that his administration would not only carter for the basic needs of the traders but also create a platform for the improvement of their services and comfort.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate also promised to provide transformers to some major markets in the State to help boost electricity supply for efficiency and productivity, adding that the traders were important stakeholders in the State with a high population of voters and deserved to be given serious attention at all times.
Ugwuanyi, who thanked the market traders for their earlier endorsement of his gubernatorial bid, further appealed to them to campaign vigorously for the PDP and as well vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and all other candidates of the Party in the State in the coming elections in order for them to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Earlier in his address, the President of Ogbete Main Market Association, Enugu and President-General, Enugu State Traders Association, Hon Temple Udeh told the PDP campaign train that Enugu markets, which had the highest concentration of votes in the State had been PDP whole and entire since 1999, and assured the party of a complete vote for all its candidates during the elections.
He also commended the party for deeming it fit to visit the markets in the State to campaign for votes and interface with the traders, emphasizing that they were the first to endorse the candidature of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Other markets visited by the PDP train were Aria Market, Enugu, Abakpa Markets and Emene Market, Enugu.
