Enugu secured, open for business – Governor Ugwuanyi

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has described the ongoing Helieu Estate project in the State as phenomenal and another demonstration of his government’s open arms to investors.

He said that the housing project, a joint venture between the State government and the F.I.T. Consult Limited, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, was another indication that Enugu “is open and ready for business.”

Ugwuanyi, who spoke during an inspection tour of the project, expressed satisfaction with the work done so far and commended the Chief Executive of the Company, Chief Lawretta Aniagolu for having faith in his administration. ‎

“I came to see the extent of work on the Estate and also inspect the amenities and facilities being put in place to serve the needs of future residents.

“I must say that I am much impressed with what I have seen and I am equally satisfied with the level of seriousness and commitment exhibited by our partners towards the timely delivery of the project.

“I have no doubt that this will be another successful effort at addressing the housing needs of our people and it further underscores the usefulness of synergy and cooperation between government and the private sector in the quest for the rapid development of the state as well as the improvement of the lives of our people.

“I therefore wish to thank Dr Loretta Aniagolu and her team at FIT Consult, for all their efforts and I want to use this opportunity to call on other individuals and organizations in the private sector, both at home and abroad, to emulate this worthy example and also join hands with government to advance the frontiers of development in Enugu State.

“Enugu State is indeed ready and open for business and we will eagerly welcome partners in every sphere of development so that our aspiration to build a more prosperous, peaceful and secure Enugu State, will be fully and promptly actualized”, he stated.

Earlier, the commissioner for lands and urban development, Mr. Solomon Onah said that the State Government provided 60 hectres of land and facilities comprising road netowrk, electricity, water and waste management.

Onah said the company was committed to designing a medium density residential area.

Conducting the governor round the project known as Heliu residences, Aniagolu said the company would construct 200 three-bedroom bungalows and 490 duplexes at the cost of N3 billion.

She said that the bungalows would be sold for N8.7 million while the duplexes would cost N27million.

Aniagolu said that there would be provision for commercial activities, including hotels, event centre, hospital and a recreation club.

She further stated that the Estate would witness 24-hour water supply, electricity, parks, waste management, adding that “all the roads will be concrete roads.”
