The Police in Enugu State on Tuesday arrested five suspected kidnapers at Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Ejiofor Apeh, Ifeanyi Abah, Eze Ogbonna, and two others were arrested after a serious gun duel with the police.
DailyPost learnt that the victim, John Paul Ede of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State was abducted in his friend’s house at Aji in Igbo-Eze North.
Ede had visited his house when the suspected hoodlums stormed the place and took him away in his Tundra Car.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, who confirmed the arrest to DailyPost disclosed that “following the incident, police operatives were promptly alerted and in course of the prompt response, two of the suspects namely one Ejiofor Apeh and Ifeanyi Abah both of Enugu Ezike in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state were apprehended in the victims Tundra Car, ABUJA 424 ABC, along Ogurute /Obollo-Afor road.
“Their arrest led to the rescue of the victim in the hideout of the kidnappers, where one Eze Ogbonna and two others whose identities are yet to be ascertained were also apprehended after a severe gun duel which left suspects fatally injured”.
He said some of the items recovered from the suspects are the Tundra jeep car, victim’s phone, other assorted phones, sim cards, wrist watch, and charms.
“Meanwhile, full scale investigations have commenced into the incident as suspects are helping the police in their investigations just as the state commissioner of police Abubakar Adamu Mohammed has commended the efforts of his security operatives and the timely and useful information of the members of the public”, Amaraizu added.
