Non-indigenes in Enugu State have expressed their support for the gubernatorial bid of the PDP Candidate, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The non-indigenes, made up of different ethnic nationalities, described Ugwuanyi as a humble, detribalized and accommodating personality, who deserves their votes in the forthcoming elections.
The spokesman of the groups and leader of the Hausa Community in the New Artisan Market, Enugu, Alhaji Sani Mohammed made the declaration while welcoming the PDP campaign train to the market.
He also declared their support for all other candidates of the PDP for the March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections, stating that the party had delivered on its promises and remained the only formidable movement that had the capacity to unite the country.
Alhaji Mohammed noted that the PDP Government in Enugu State under the leadership of Governor Sullivan Chime had been magnanimous with non-indigenes through its developmental and people-oriented programmes that had given them a sense of belonging, and as well promoted peace, unity and progress in the State and beyond.
He further expressed confidence that Ugwuanyi would improve on their lives following his antecedents as an experienced and visionary politician with passion to serve and a full knowledge of the needs of the people.
The groups’ spokesman therefore, called on the people to vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming elections in the overall interest of the nation.
In his address, the governorship candidate of the PDP in Enugu State, Hon. Ugwuanyi thanked the non-indigene groups for their support and solidarity and assured them of his resolve to continue to promote and integrate their interests in the affairs of the State.
He disclosed that non-indigenes will not only remain part and parcel of his administration but also enjoy all the ingredients of democracy and good governance in order to better their lives as bona fide citizens of Nigeria.
The Governorship candidate therefore, appealed to them to translate their visible support for him into massive votes for all the candidates of the PDP, including President Goodluck Jonathan in the coming elections.
Other dignitaries that canvassed for votes at the visit include the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Bishop Ralph Nwoye, the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the State Director-General of the PDP Campaign Organization, Chief C.O.C Egumgbe, among others.
