Enugu group lauds Ugwuanyi’s achievement, forms Gburugburu Movement

The people of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State have set aside Saturday, March 11, to celebrate Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the State. This is as they hailed his style of leadership in the face of the prevailing economic recession in the country. The people, therefore, formed a socio-political group, Gburugburu Movement, to intensify their support for the governor.

Addressing newsmen, on Wednesday, in Enugu, the Coordinator of the movement, Prof. Fred Nwodo, and the Secretary, Prof. Simeon U. Ortuanya, said that the people decided to collapse their Gburugburu Support Group into a Movement to pep up solidarity for the governor.

Nwodo described Governor Ugwuanyi as God-sent to the people of the state, pointing out that he has, within two years, performed better than what his predecessors did in four years in office.

He disclosed that the people have set aside Saturday, March 11 to celebrate Ugwuanyi for his excellence in governance as they gather to formally launch the Igbo-Etiti Gburugburu Movement.

He expressed delight that the governor has in the last two years managed the lean resources accruing to the state very prudently just like he has equitably distributed amenities in the state.

Nwodo, who disclosed that Ugwuanyi was building new hospitals in the state, also said that the governor has concluded plans to site a mobile police barracks along the Nike-Opi Road leading to Nsukka, to beef up security on that axis.

Nwodo continued, “So, we want to create a larger group to continue to protect and support him. We will bring to the fore to the other Enugu people how we are supporting him in Igbo-Etiti, we want this movement to become a vehicle for the mobilization of our people; after the launch we will transplant it to other areas and it will spread across the state. We want to celebrate this man because of his excellence.”

Nwodo noted that the defection of the former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Eugene Odoh, who hails from Igbo-Etiti to the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently would not affect the support their people have for Governor Ugwuanyi.

Speaking, the secretary of the Movement, Prof. Ortuanya said that their group launch was not essentially to endorse Ugwuanyi for 2019, but to place his good deeds in the public domain.

He said that the people on their own would yearn for the governor, who he said had done marvelously well.
