Enugu Governor orders release of vehicles confiscated by ENTRACO

Enugu State Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has ordered the General Manager of Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO), Mr. Okey Mba to release all confiscated vehicles belonging to owners of vehicles operating under the company.

The directive was sequel to a protest lodged by drivers attached to the state owned transport company over the ill-treatment by the management of the company.

However, apart from ordering the release of the vehicles, he asked both parties to parley within two weeks with a view to resolving their differences.

Ugwuanyi had received a delegation of the ENTRACO Drivers’ Association, led by Mr. Angus Amujiri, on a peaceful protest to the Government House, over alleged “illegal fees” being levied on them by the management of the company.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who commended the drivers for the peaceful approach they adopted in channeling their complaints, reaffirmed the determination of his administration to maintain the existing peace and order in the state for the overall interest of the people.

In his response, Amujiri expressed delight over the Governor’s kind disposition towards them, describing him as a man with a listening ear just as the rest of the driver chanted a praise song in appreciation of the governor.

They prayed God to continue to bless and sustain the governor with strength and wisdom for him to pilot the affairs of the state to the satisfaction of the people.

In a related development, Governor Ugwuanyi also yesterday intervened in the dispute between the management of of San Carlos Pineapple Farm in Amoli, Awgu council area and adjoining host communities in the area over the expected social responsibility of the company to the people of the area.

He eventually got the chairman of Awgu local government council, Mr. Mathanus Nnanna Nze to continue with effective interface with the leaders of the aggrieved communities pending the time all stakeholders would get to a round table to agree on a lasting solution.
