Against the backdrop of the prevailing economic challenges in the country, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has commenced the process of awarding more road projects and other infrastructure across the state, in line with his determination to advance good governance.
Consequently, the Governor through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has invited for Expression of Interest (E.O.I) from interested Civil, Water Engineering and Building Contractors with proven experience and competence in road, water and building constructions to bid for the construction of 14 new roads, 5 boreholes, 2 hospitals and 5 schools.
A notice from the works’ ministry stated that the action was “in line with the grassroots development policy of the Government of Enugu State to construct and rehabilitate some infrastructural projects in the state”.
In a reaction, a cross section of Enugu State indigenes, who spoke on the development, described the governor’s grassroots development initiatives as a welcome development that came at a time most states were battling to pay workers’ salaries because of the glut in the prices of crude oil in the global market.
