Ahead of the local government election in Enugu State, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State has set-up a steering committee.
The committee is headed by the immediate past Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh.
The immediate past Chairman of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, Dr. Bonny Enugu is also made a member of the electoral committee.
Rising from the inaugural state Caucus meeting, the state chairman of APC, Dr Ben Nwoye said “the Caucus resolved that if the state government decides to hold elections today, we will participate.”
Among those who participated in the Caucus meeting on Sunday night, included the immediate past Governor of the state, Mr. Sullivan Chime; Former Military Governor of Gombe state, Group Captain Joe Orji; the Director General of VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu; Transport magnet, Dr. Sam Onyishi and former Secretary to Enugu state government, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
Others are: APC National Vice chairman for south east, Chief Emma Enukwu; immediate Past Speaker of Enugu state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Eugene Odoh; Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate, Maj Gen Chris Eze (rtd); APC BOT member, Gen JOJ Okoloagu (rtd), Oil Business magnate, Emperor Beywood Ibeh, former Enugu state commissioner for culture and Tourism, Ozor Joe Mmamel, among others.
The meeting also resolved to set up a reconciliation committee headed by Group Captain Joe Orji, with a made to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party in the state.
“It was a meeting of party leaders for administration and for the future of the party in the state. We are also saying that 2019 elections will be different from that of 2015 in Enugu state.
“We are coming out from the meeting, stronger than we were and our resolutions will be ratified by the state working committee of the party,” said Nwoye.
