Enugu APGA passes vote of confidence on Maxi Okwu

Enugu chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, on Thursday, passed a vote of confidence on the Maxi Okwu’s led interim national leadership of the party. The party also announced the removal of Okechukwu Nkoloagu as its Enugu state chairman over alleged fraudulent activities.

The party equally kicked against any form of merger with other political parties, insisting that the party should instead be strenghtened. The decision was taken at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s Enugu office. In a 4-point communique read by the Acting chairman of APGA in the state, Mr. Jude Okuli, the members expressed their total support for Maxi Okwu.

“We unequivocally say that we are in support of Chief Maxi Okwu as the interim national chairman of APGA.

“We dissociate ourselves from the merger of APGA with political parties of CPC, ACN and ANPP.

“Mr. Cecilly Okechukwu Nkoloagu is removed as chairman on fraudulent activities over APGA Enugu state funds.

“We accept and concede to the judgement of Enugu High Court against Chief Sir Victor Umeh as we consent to the stand of the present interim national working committee over the matter not to continue in the pursuit of any court case in that regards”, the communique read.

Speaking during an interview with journalists, Okuli dismissed Umeh’s claims, saying that he (Umeh) had appealed the High Court judgement.

He said: “you know I was the plaintiff in that court case, so if Umeh went on appeal as he is claiming, who did he serve notice of appeal. As I speak to you nobody served me any such thing, neither was my lawyer served. So the appeal exists only in the pages of newspaper.

“Umeh’s time is up; he should quietly go and rest. APGA must move on, and nobody will stop it”.
