Enugu APC guber ticket: Ayogu heads for appeal after court judgment

Senator Ayogu Eze has headed for the Appeal Court following Tuesday’s Federal High Court judgment, which sacked him as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State.

DAILY POST had reported that the court presided over by Justice I Ekwo had ordered INEC to recognize Barr. George Ogara as the authentic candidate.

Reacting through Mr. Okey Ezirigwe, spokesman of his campaign organization, Ayogu described the judgment as “a reckless adventure from the bench, an adventure we know will be discharged in due course.

“Our lawyers have assured us that all necessary legal steps are being taken to discharge this obvious miscarriage of justice within the next couple of days.

“We urge our party faithful and supporters from across the parties and strata of the society to remain calm and resolute while our lawyers are dealing with this minor distraction and irritation.”

He added that, “we are humbled by the overwhelming outpouring of solidarity from our large supporters and ever-growing support base, not only from every corner of our dear Enugu but from beyond and appreciate their calling our attention to a curious Abuja court order which, as the saying goes, is really of no issue at all.

“We want to assure all and sundry that Distinguished Senator Ayogu Eze remains the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress Enugu State.

“We are going on with our campaign in full assurance that Ayogu Eze, CON, will emerge as the Governor of Enugu State come March 2, 2019.

“We shall not fail to use this opportunity to congratulate our great party on the victory secured at the Court of Appeal sitting in Portharcourt in respect to our Rivers State Governorship and other candidates.

“Our movement towards President Buhari’s re-election and our decisive victory in the Governorship elections in Enugu State remain unwaveringly on course. Our train is on the move. There is no stopping this great rescue race to victory.”
