The Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, yesterday, called on Nigeria’s Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo to ensure that its directive given to Oil multinationals to relocate their corporate headquarters to the Niger Delta region is should include the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
In a statement signed and made available to Daily Post, FHRACC National President, Alaowei Cleric Esq stated that the Acting President should implement its decision with immediate effect.
Cleric said,” The implementation should also cover NNPC. Any oil corporation that flouts the Government’s decision should be treated as enemy of peace and Niger Delta.”
Cleric lamented that the Niger Delta has suffered ” excruciating environmental hazards” as a result of oil exploration activities by oil multinationals without being compensated despite laying the golden eggs.
The statement said,” these are some of the reasons why the youths become increasingly agitated.”
Cleric hailed the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo for the directive, stressing that,” With the directives on oil companies to relocate their headquarters to the region, the end to age-long Niger Delta oil war is feasible. Mr. Acting President should not back down on his decision. This is the sure path to peace in the region. There can be no guarantee in the region if the oil companies in collaboration with the Nigerian Government keep on pillaging the Niger Delta people of our resources. The Government should know that it has just hit the sour point. We are waiting for its implementation.”
