Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, has said that Lionel Messi will continue taking penalties for the team, despite missing against Manchester City on Tuesday.
The Argentine had the chance to put the La Liga side 3-1 in stoppage time, but saw Joe Hart beat his effort away. It was the third penalty he had missed this season.
“Those who miss penalties are those who dare to take them and our penalty taker is undoubtedly Leo Messi. We have the utmost confidence in his capacity to take them,” Enrique told reporters.
He also went on to praise his side’s display at the Etihad and insisted they can be very proud of the result they got.
“The result is deserved and we must be proud of it. It is difficult to close out the result in these matches, but we had a lot of chances,” he said.
“In the first half we were very good. We created a lot of chances from midfield and we defended very well. We were very good in all aspects of the game.
“In the second half, our opponents also showed their quality and we had to suffer, but this result is deserved.
“We are very happy with the result.”
