Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has reacted to Super Eagles 2-1 loss to England in a warm up match at Wembley on Saturday.

According to him, the 2-1 defeat was a wakeup call to the team ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria put up an abysmal display in the first half and went behind through goals from Gary Cahill and Harry Kane.

They, however, reduced the deficit following a strike by Alex Iwobi.

Adepoju, played down the defeat, insisting that the Super Eagles will learn from the experience and perform better in Russia.

He wrote on Twitter, “This game against England is an eye-opener because I feel it has exposed Gernot Rohr to some key areas that need a shakeup. The result in Russia counts more than the defeat to England @NGSuperEagles #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong,”

The Super Eagles will face Czech Republic in their next friendly game on Wednesday in Austria.
